Wrestling star shares workout routine - wrestling workout
Genesis trains for Season 5 of Women Of Wrestling.

Genesis, a wrestling star from the Northern Territory in Australia, is currently training for Season 5 of WOW—Women Of Wrestling. She is working on her grip strength to tighten up her grasp of the competition.

Genesis, whose real name is Selena O’Sullivan, is billed as being from the harsh Australian outback, which she says is 100% true. She grew up in a small mining town called Nhulunbuy in Arnhem Land.

O’Sullivan was a “super tomboy” and a fan of Jackie Chan, finding herself drawn to karate sessions at her local town hall. She learned Wing Chun and Muay Thai, and also received weapons training, which became part of her wrestling character.

Upper Body and Grip Workout

Genesis shares her current chest and shoulder workout, which includes a warmup on the elliptical, followed by exercises like standing cable flies, shoulder press machine, chest dips, and standing cable crossovers.

She incorporates a technique called “wringing” into her workout, rotating her wrist at the end of each rep to build forearm stability and functional grip strength. Genesis also prioritizes stretching after her workout to maintain flexibility.

Genesis is excited about the impending return of WOW and is digging deep into her bag of tricks to intimidate her opponents. She’s even considering bringing in a new weapon, a bow staff, to add to her arsenal.

In the season four finale, Santana Garrett was crowned the new WOW world title holder, and Genesis has her eyes on the prize. She’s ready for title shots and has Garrett at the top of her list.

Genesis, also known as Selena O’Sullivan, has been open about her journey, saying “As Genesis, I wield nunchucks,” which showcases her martial arts background. She made her debut with the Women Of Wrestling promotion back in 2019 and has been working on her craft ever since. Genesis also shared her thoughts on training, saying “Obviously, mistakes happen but that’s why we train,” which highlights her dedication to her craft. Her upper body and grip workout is also a key part of her training, which includes a warmup on the elliptical and performing 8-12 reps per exercise, as seen on her Instagram post.
